Supporting HEIs to Lead on Harm Reduction

Partnering with ESHEILD means joining a national effort to support harm reduction in Higher Education. Our implementation process is flexible and collaborative, shaped to fit the needs and context of each institution.

How ESHEILD is Implemented

Each institution’s engagement with ESHEILD is shaped in collaboration with the project team and the relevant regional or local Drug and Alcohol Task Force. The process is guided by four key stages:

Initial Planning

The ESHEILD team will work closely with a local working group to explore effective strategies for local implementation. This stage focuses on developing a tailored plan that reflects the insitution’s existing structures and processes.

Framework RUISHE Actions

HEIs will be linked to their local/regional Drug and Alcohol Task Force and will join a National Implementation Group working as a community of practice to discuss and share learning on implementing Framework RUISHE actions. A system for tracking and reviewing progress will be provided.

MyUSE Launch

The local working group will coordinate with the ESHEILD team to ensure smooth rollout of the MyUSE digital tool. Engagement and promotional support will be given to support uptake among students.

Continued Support

Institutions receive continued technical support to maintain access to MyUSE for the duration of the initative. The ESHEILD team also offers ongoing guidance to respond to emerging needs and support the long-term integration of Framework actions.

Why Partner with ESHEILD?

Participating institutions benefit from a collaborative, evidence-informed approach to harm reduction that is tailored to local needs:

Interested in ESHEILD?

The call for expressions of interest to participate in ESHEILD is now closed. At this time, we are only able to offer full partnership to a limited number of HEIs.

Although full partnership places have been filled, if your institution is interested in joining the National Implementation Group, or you would like further information, please contact us to explore how we can support your next steps in student harm reduction.
