digital intervention for students

My Understanding of Substance Experiences (MyUSE)

MyUSE is a web-based prevention, education, and behavioural change tool that aims to:
  • Increase mindful decision-making with respect to drug-use
  • Cultivate harm-reduction practices in the Higher Education context
  • Promote alternatives to drug-use activities

What is MyUSE and How Does it Work?

This short video introduces MyUSE, offering a quick overview of how the app supports students to reflect on their substance use experiences

For All Higher Education Students

MyUSE is a clinical algorithm that adapts to each student’s individual experience, whether they use drugs currently, have used drugs in the past, or have never done so. The app responds dynamically to students’ answers, offering tailored support, information, and guidance based on their needs – without stigma or assumptions.

It’s designed to be relevant, accessible, and helpful to all students, wherever they are in relation to substance use.

What Students See in MyUSE

Grounded in behavioural science, MyUSE is designed to support mindful decision-making, self-awareness, and wellbeing for students.

A student’s journey in MyUSE begins with a short set of questions, after which the app guides them through content tailored to their needs. Based on their responses, they’re offered relevant harm reduction information, skill-building activities, and practical strategies, which is all aligned with their individual context.
